Is the Gospel of Christ the sharing of Christ’s redemptive death more than two thousand years ago…or is the Gospel a transforming of the heart of the carnal man by the supernatural indwelling power of the Holy Spirit….with being moved from Death to Life as its offspring.?? As Christians, we
generally share only of Christ’s redemptive act…and we share little of the POWER of His resurrection. If we, indeed, are the Body of Christ…where..pray tell…is our POWER??
“Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”
“Luke 7:22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.”
“Luke 9:16 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.”
“Romans 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
“Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.”
“Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
1 Cor 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1 Cor 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1 Cor 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
1 Cor 9:14 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
2 Cor 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
1 Thes 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake
1 Thes 2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
2 Thes 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1 Pet 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1 Pet 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The Gospel, indeed, is a Supernatural Force accomplished by the power of the Son of God who gave Himself as the perfect Lamb who through the POWER of His death, burial, and resurrection…supernaturally moves us from Death to Life through the supernatural presence of the supernatural Holy Spirit which indwells our natural temple. The supernatural power of the Spirit of God makes new the old man and transforms him into a new creature.
Mark 16: 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
No wonder the peoples of the world are hurting, languishing, and dying in the darkness of days…because so little light and power of the Gospel(Christ) is among them.

Submission to the indwelling Holy Spirit is often overlooked, as we tend to take the easy way in life, trusting in the obvious, tangible, and visible–not the invisible.
Excellent, very comprehensive post.

Amen. I really like it when one discovers through scripture that the Gospel without power will be as ineffective as the letter of the Law. The Church has long been preaching Christ without power. We have shunned the very Person who we need the most in order to be effective in our ministry of the Gospel. But thanks to you and many out there for sounding the wake up call. The CHURCH NEED POWER…and need it urgently.
Thank you and blessings,

I identify with you about Gospel without power. Many Christians are pale in reading the Word, because their reaction to Scriptures is a weak “I hope so” –instead of “Yes, Lord, this is true and you promise the unending power to fulfill everything you say.”

Gladwell, thanks so much for visiting and commenting. My heart ‘leaps’ when I encounter precious brothers and sisters in Christ. And we so need to edify one another. I have failed the Father so often in so many ways. Time is short to ‘prepare the way of the Lord..to make His paths straight.’ His return is within sight. His Grace and Mercy prods my heart to be completely transformed by His Spirit. I desire to yield my body as His temple…holy..acceptable..which is my REASONABLE service in light of the incredible things He has done on my behalf…redeeming me from eternal death by the suffering of His own soul and body. The world is hurting and in need of solace..compassion..understanding..physical comfort…and GRACE.
The desire of my heart for you is ‘thy will be done.’ There is nothing greater to ask on behalf of you and yours.
