Nebuchadnezzar and Babylon, is an example of how mortals get ‘too big for our britches’ related to God and His authoritative plans for the cosmos and its inhabitants.
After God gave the kingdom of Babylon to King Nebuchadnezzar, Buch decided to take all the credit for the glory of Babylon. Daniel 4:30 “The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the Kingdom, by the might of MY power, and for the honor of MY majesty?” UH-OH! WRONG WORDS! Before the uh-oh words launched from Buch’s mouth….he heard a very authoritative :’gulp’: voice from Heaven,saying, “O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.” To make a long story short…God put king Buch in the pastures grazing grass with the oxen. Dew fell on him until his hairs were like eagle feathers. He grew claws like bird claws. Nebuchadnezzar is now become the perfect example of ‘how low can you go.’ 
After completing God’s course on Educating Puffed Up Kings, Nebuchadnezzar had well learned the course content. He now sincerely, as recorded, gives credit where credit is due. Daniel 4:35 “And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, Why doest thou? 37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgement; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.”
I’ve presented Nebuchadnezzar’s chastisement in a rather light manner…knowing that his episode of pride is no different to when we, the clay, have the audacity to think we can usurp power held only by the potter.
In current political and world events….we wring our hands, worry, talk blame, talk hate, and spew prideful words as though we have authority over peoples, nations, and world events. GOD RULES!!! He declares which kings rule, which nations rise, and which nations fall. Only one crucial choice is given to man….God or Satan, Heaven or Hell, Life or Death. And the precious seconds of our lives are focused on making that choice! Then…when judgement from God is dispensed…..the time of choice is is passed. Ecl.11:3 “……..in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.”
