I’m going to jump right into the truth of the Word debate…and blow your mind. I contend that the fall of Adam and Eve was purposed by God. And I believe scripture proves my contention. Whoa! Hoa! Told you I was going to blow your mind. Really, a ‘purposed fall’ is the only thing that makes sense. God is God and above Him there is no other. So, who or what could overrule his creative structural plan for man? I say….NOTHING AND NOBODY…certainly not a little peon like the deceiver in the Garden that day. GOD IS PERFECT. HIS CREATIVE PLANS ARE PERFECT. HIS WORD IS PERFECT! I think we all agree that God determined to make man in His image . Genesis 3:22 says, “And the Lord said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil.” Now, after the Tree of Knowledge incident….God says that His plan….to make man in His image…is now accomplished. According to the scripture just noted….before the incident with the deceiver at the Tree of Knowledge…..Eve ‘KNEW’ only GOOD (as in ‘there is none GOOD but God). The term ‘knew’ refers to knowledge conceived, understood, internalized…as in Adam ‘knew’ his wife. Now…after the incident….she ’KNOWS’, understands, recognizes, and has internalized the knowledge of both…good and evil. Before the encounter with the deceiver, Eve was completely perfect with NO SIN or else she could not have been in face-to-face fellowship with the Father. Afterwards, she was shaken, ashamed, remorseful, bewildered, separated from Good, and DEAD. But her Father knows He ‘appointed’ the situation. So now He finds the two of them and….consoles them by placing a coat of blood around them. We know the coat of blood to be the blood covering from the ‘Lamb slain before the foundation of the world.’ As He places the coat of blood, with a hug, she confides (paraphrased)..’he tricked me.’ Also, Hebrews 9:27 says, …”it is APPOINTED unto men ONCE to die.” The word ‘appointed’ clearly means ‘purposed.’ Look up the word in your Bible concordance and you’ll see its meaning. The ‘why’ of it all…..is that God purposed to make man in ‘his’ image…knowing both good and evil. He purposed to let them ‘know’ both sides…the good…and the evil. He provided experiences that would accomplish His purpose.
Chew on that thought for a while. And in a later post, we’ll discuss things such as how God purposed Adam to ’till the ground’ before Adam was created, why Adam ate of the Tree without resisting…at all, and why CHOICE…the knowing of both good and evil is soooooooooo…important.
